Hiya All!
If you read my last post you’ll know I suffered on the day after starting my challenge.
Well, that agony continued!
Paul massaged my calf muscles on Friday and Saturday night… I went through the roof! or would have done had I not being laying down! Paul decided it was funny to comment on what the neighbours would think if they heard me… Not sure I could have really given a damn given the pain I was in 😀
Paul did take pics, but I’m not gonna scare you with pics of my fuzzy pins 😀
My calves remained swollen, rock hard and red for a good couple of days, by Monday I was able to walk up and down the stairs without clinging onto the banister, the pains were much less, and I could actually feel a bit of give in my calves on gentle prodding!
Today, the the residual pains are only slight and only when going up the stairs.
I’m going to ask Paul to massage my legs again this evening. I pray it’s not gonna be as painful.
So… Where does this leave me?
I am still gonna do the challenge, I’ll be starting from scratch, hopefully tomorrow!
However, I shall be starting very, very small! I’m going to walk up and down the stairs every work hour, just twice! I know, I know! it’s really rather pathetic! However, there is no way I’m putting myself through that again!
My hope is that I’ll suffer no pains the following day and so can start building up on that.
At this rate it will take me 30 days to complete, so assuming I can build up a bit, I’m going to aim to actually complete this in 21 days, although I will not over stretch on this.
So there we go, that was a non starter, but can be rebooted, as off tomorrow… all being well!
Good night for now 🙂
Ouch, I feel your pain, definitely wise to start of slowly again, like you say, just postponed not binned, glad I saw this post I was going to write and check on you as we’ve not heard from you in a while, I was getting worried.

Oh my goodness I know that pain!!
My calves have been like rocks for the last few years (better now than they used to be…) I even wrote a blog post called “why do my calves feel like they are going to explode” or some such thing!
I have had many sports massages on them in which I have nearly kicked the poor massage person!
If you can find calf compression sleeves, they really really help! Both during exercise and with recovery! mine are 2XU and I love love them. Compression socks are good too, but don’t work for me as I have tiny feet and massive calves, which is not a combination sportswear manufacturers thing exist!

fab advise! thank you. I’ll see how I go and hit amazon when I can 😀
I don’t think I could cope with a sports massage, Paul was bad enough!

Calf sleeves have saved my life on many an occasion…I even slept in them once!!
Definitely worth a try!!
Sports massage is not fun…but worth it!

It’s great that you didn’t let the setback put you off & that you’re taking the challenge up again 🙂 I need to get my exercise levels back up!
