Oh dear!
You’ve probably all been there, you walk in to your work place, and lo and behold!!!! cakes, treats, nibbles, pastries etc etc etc….. And if you’re anything like me, you’re thinking, ‘oh wow, they look good! but I’m tyring to be good!’
Well, this happened to me today BUT instead of just eating away, giving no thought to the consequences, I made a different choice. It wasn’t the best choice, but it was a good compromise.
There are countless times in the past where I’ve happily eaten the occasional bite size treats (i mean, how much damage can one treat do?), and tucked into bigger ones, saying to myself, ‘ah well, it’s a treat – it’s fine for today’
Our Supervisor returned to work today, bearing gifts – welsh cakes, toffee, biscuits and caramel shortbread bites!
I simply can’t refuse!
My compromise?
I don’t count calories as a rule, but today they were useful. I know nutritionally the naughty stuff is not good, I mean, look at the traffic light on the welsh cakes! But, as I am still getting my minimum 5 a day fruit and veg, plus all my protein even without the nuts, I’m ok with myself.
For the welsh cake which is about 150 calories, I didn’t eat my nuts, also about 150 calories.

For the caramel shortbread bite, about 70 calories I walked for about 15 minutes, fast (for me)! It’s such an eye opener to realise just how much exercise you have to put in to counter such a small nibble!

I did enjoy the treats, there won’t be any more for me, but I did enjoy them π
That is fantastic! Nothing wrong with having a small treat. In fact in the long run it is more likely to keep you on track. If you deprive yourself of all treats you’re more likely to binge down the line. Good on you! π

Treats are always fine. They also help you out in the long run by helping you to not binge. Youβre definitely on the right track!

Thank you, I felt good knowing I can have treats occasionally and make good choices to counter π
