10th Nov 2019 – the weekend update – and a 3lb loss!

Evening all, hope you’ve all had a cracking weekend 😊

I’ll start with the good news – I lost 3lb last week – WOOHOO!

23lb loss in total

Ok, so now for the daily updates!

Friday – worked from home in the morning, and and 28g natural nuts and a hard boiled egg. Went to lunch with Paul and Amy after work. I have to say I prefer my usual salad from Harvester, and wont be going for healthy lunch at miller and carter again.

Mine is the salmon salad. Nice but harvester salad is cheaper and nicer!

Then we got ready for the funeral. The service was very nice.

That evening I had diet cokes, then a toast to Angie with a shot of her favourite tipple, and a shot with her daughter of Sambuca.

I did have a couple of sarnies and other buffet foods. But I did try to limit it.

When we got home I prepared the lamb ready for Saturday’s dinner.

So Friday, in regards to my health, didn’t go so bad.

Saturday – Paul and I had beans on toast for breakfast. We both almost gave in and had a macdonalds, but we are both pleased we we’re strong for ourselves and each other.

And after that we started going down hill.

We came home and did the housework in readiness for Paul’s parents coming over for the evening.

My mum in law loves lamb, so I did what seems to be becoming my speciality, kleftiko! Lamb of course is fatty, so the meal isn’t the healthiest.

I didn’t drink too much, but there was chocolate, crisps and salted nuts.

And it was a very, very late night. We played games and chatted until 4am this morning… I’m too old for this level of late nights!

Today – I started with healthier sausages in seedy bread and a bit of unhealthy bacon at about 11am.

Then we headed off to my sister in law, with cake, candles and presents for our niece who is 9 tomorrow. She loved her presents 😍

There was a lot of unhealthy food. My sister in law always cooks up too much, and I took full advantage.

We are now home, in peace and quiet, and I’m drinking a glass of full fat coke. I have to say, I’m not enjoying it! I prefer the taste of Pepsi max!

looking forward to a nice early night tonight. Paul’s eyes have closed as I write this, so as I watch David Attenborough on tv I’m gonna get sound effects of Paul’s snoring any minute now 🀣

So that’s my very brief update on the weekend. I’ll do prep for salads in a minute so I can start the week right.

Or maybe I’ll just snuggle up with Paul…

  1. Do Beans on toast Keep you full ? I’ve never considered that. Every once in awhile I’ll do oatmeal but carbs for breakfast always tire me out, but I guess everyone is different. Congrats on the weight loss with my wife trying WW, we are both being more mindful in portion control and intake. I know we both lost some face fat and a few inches but we got a long way to go. Just know Jo, that no matter you post it’s an ongoing inspiration to me here across the ocean πŸ™‚ Keep it up girl !

    1. Aw, thank you so much, that’s so lovely to read 😍. Yes, beans do definitely keep us going, and they’re healthy protein rich as well. That’s fantastic to know you and your wife have noticed inch loss and a difference in your faces too! Portion control is definitely one of my biggest challenges, I’ve always overfed! But as I’ve been more mindful of portions, I’ve realised I simply don’t need so much, and now I make a point of eating more slowly and only eat as much as I need. It’s difficult even after all this time, as sometimes I’m leaving favourite bits of my meal, but I’m learning… slowly πŸ‘. Good luck to you both, you’ll get there, it can be slow old process, but that simply means you get more time to change as many aspects that suits you both. And if course, the slower we lose, the greater chance we have to keep the weight off for good 😊

      1. I know, losing has always been easy, the gain back has been my downfall over the decades. It’s about staying mindful to stay on track

      2. That’s great to hear. I dread the work holiday parties with all the buffet style food spreads. But even if there are multiple carbs, I’m going to limit myself to one that I really want.
