17th & 18th March – well!

Hiya all, hope you are safe and well.

My apologies for the combined post. I’m struggling with a very weird mood at the moment, I’m not grumpy, I’m not down, I’m just, I don’t know, im just kind of nothingy at the moment.

I’m forcing myself to write this post, so I keep somewhat on track and not allowing myself to fall out of being accountable.

Don’t put of to tomorrow what can be done today….

This is what I was saying to myself last night, but I haven’t lived by it today.

Yesterday I didn’t get up for exercises, thinking I would do stuff during my lunch break. However I got a call from mum so I went to shop instead. Then I should have gone on a walk last night, but I spent time round mum’s instead. Then later in the evening my daughter came round.

Today was also not good. I should have got up and did exercises, I didn’t. I should have done exercises during lunch, instead I was disinfecting, I should be going for a walk, I’m not.

The reason for my visit to mum last night is because she called to say she had developed a cough, dry and tickily. I took medicine round to her, we stayed well apart, no physical contact. It’s very odd not being able to give my mum a kiss and hug.

This morning I called mum to see how she is, she now has a temperature. She has slept most of the day, so that’s good, and she seems quite well, so if this is the lurgy, hopefully this is as bad as it will get for her.

And in accordance with our government’s advise, this now means Paul and I are in self isolation. No signs of anything, just precautions.

As for the rest of my family, Amy’s anxiety is through the roof, Katie is fine, Chelle and hubby now working from home with two littlies running round. As for my in laws, they are being careful, but Gwen should be going for a hospital appointment tomorrow, just to check she’s still cancer free, but now might not go. She’ll take advise from hje hospital in the morning. My sister in law is now going to have to be at home with the three kids as schools are shut indefinitely, this is gonna be so hard on her financially.

A few weeks ago this virus was a news story, now it’s invading all our lives, in so many ways. I worry how our world will look in a few months.

Anyway, back to the point of the blog, a bit of my normality.

Sleep. Tuesday not too bad, Wednesday rubbish.

Exercise – not a scooby doo!

Fluid – teas, milk, water and 1x pepsi max, not enough water, too much tea. Not loads, I didn’t go mad on tea all of a sudden, just should have tried to swap a couple with water.

Day food – same on both days, 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruits, 1 cheese portion, 1 hard boiled egg, salad.

Yesterday evening we had fish again, my fault, I prepped spuds instead of making spaghetti bolognese. Fish was with spuds and peas and sweetcorn. The fish was breaded rather than lightly dusted, the shops had run out of our usual.

We also had Greek yoghurt with seeds and honey.

Today was spag bol, with cheesy garlic bread. Not great, but a useful way to use up bread.

There we are then, my last two days.

I hope I get out of this slump soon!

Stay safe and healthy people.

Speak tomorrow.

16th March – It’s been a goodish day.

Hey all, hope you are well.

I’m not feeling so motivated today. It will pass, it’s just the hormones. The nagging headache hasn’t helped either.

On a positive note though, I’m usually coping (or not 😆) with stomach aches, back aches and coccyx pains right now, and dealing with being a mardy cow…  so actually, vast improvement to usual 😃

I don’t think it’s helped my mood that I’ve worked from home today either. Feel utterly… meh! However, as I can work from home, it is the most sensible thing to do.

I called mum tonight, I’ve decided I’m still going round to see her tomorrow night. Mum gets lonely, I can’t not visit her. And selfishly, I want to see her! Obviously, if I feel ill at any point, I’ll not put my mum at risk.

Paul and I went through cupboards and freezer this evening, we’ll be fine should we need to self isolate, we’ll pick up a couple of bits just for variety.

I did do exercises this morning, but nothing during lunch, and checking our cupboards has zapped me of any energy. I do feel I’d actually feel a bit more energetic now had I gone for a walk during lunch. With this in mind I’ll try to make a determined effort to go for a walk tomorrow afternoon.

So, let’s get in with the daily…

Sleep – I feel knackered despite not many loo stops. But then, i did have less than 6.5 hours.

Fluid – 200ml of milk, 2 glasses of water, 1 can of Pepsi max, 4 teas.

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion.

I’m not sure why, but I didn’t really enjoy my salad today.  I might have to jiggle it about a bit, because I used to love them.

We had salmon, sprouts and oven cooked spuds for dinner. I didn’t eat all the spuds.

We finished off the ice cream, I wanted to make freezer room.

Exercise – strength programme today.

Tomorrow will be a better day 🙂

For now, stay healthy people.

Speak tomorrow

15th March – a productive day!

Hiya all, hope you have had a lovely weekend 😊

It’s fair to say my body rebelled, big time, to the delish crap I ate last night!

I spent a good few hours in bed quite uncomfortable and unable to drop off, and then needed several unsuccessful loo stops! This old body wanted to eject the contents, but couldn’t! I spent lots of time sitting and trying!

Today was a much healthier food day, starting with beans on toast.

I decided to try a pair of jeans on, they were too small, they now fit… woohoo! They are a UK size 18, a very generous size 18! I don’t expect size 18s from other shops to fit me, however as my normal jeans are a size 22, and too baggy now, I’m overjoyed to be able to wear something with the number “18” on it!

Paul took a couple of pics, so might as well put comparison on here too.

So, me in July last year…

Me now…

I’m not sure if I can see a difference, but then I never can 🤣

This afternoon was filled with shopping and prepping.

I’d forgotten just how long it takes to prep our salads, I’m worn out! Pennies need to be saved though 😊

And now we’ve got salads prepped, eggs boiled, fruit and nuts measured out.

For dinner, we finally tried devilled tofu! The tofu itself was a pleasant surprise, and something we will have again. Paul wasn’t keen on aubergine, and the potatoes were undercooked. We had salad on the side too.

If we do this particular recipe again we’ll have potatoes on the side as a potatoes salad, and substitute the aubergine and peppers for some other veggies.

Here’s a pic of the recipe, should you want to try 😀

We’ll be having crisps a little later, but they’re not as bad as our old favourites.

I haven’t had a chance to exercise, but tomorrow should be a good day. Monday’s and Wednesday’s are the weekdays I intend to get up early for strength training, as we did shopping today, we’ll be able to go for a walk tomorrow night. And as I’m working from home for the foreseeable, I can do something during lunchtimes as well.

So guys, that’s my day. Looking forward to the coming week, excited to see what I can do, and hoping I can keep to my healthy eating 😉

Good night all

w/c 09.03 – Exercise Progression Update

Evening all

I’ve had my best week ever this week!

Who knew I would ever spend anytime on exercise, let alone 6 hours and 19 minutes of it in one week!!! That’s nearly a full working day!

Certainly no one who knows me, least of all me 🤣

I blame my tracker and this blog! It’s my mission in life to succeed!

I am disappointed with yesterday’s walk, had I realised it had taken 41ish minutes I’d have walked a bit more just so I could claim 3 walks at 45 minutes… never mind!

For clarification, my up and down hill bit, my plan was to walk up and down it twice, once a week. This week I walked up and three times twice during the week, and up and down four times once during the week 😊

Anyway… here it is, my tracker!

Let’s see what next week brings!

Good luck to you all with any personal challenges!

14th March – great on exercise and day food, a revisit to past food nemesis!

Hey all, hope you are well.

Today has been a great day, and I include the evening meal in that!

My sleep was great! I only got up three times last night… YAY!

I was lying on bed, all snuggely, but I made the choice to get up and do my strength training. I promised myself three strength sessions this week, and I kept it!

We had healthier sausages in a small brown roll for breakfast.  I used spread, not butter.  And had just a bit of bbq sauce.

Then later in the morning I visited with my friend and convinced her to come for a walk with me, suggesting, sneakily, that I needed motivation. She obliged and enjoyed the walk 😁

The walk was the one I do with the hill, I no longer call it “the bitch”, instead it is a great cardio workout, and a fab measure of my increasing fitness.  I got up it three times today.  My friend didn’t fancy a 4th go, and I was happy to oblige!

Paul and I then went to weigh, and just in case you haven’t seen previous post… 2lb off!  So that’s 6lb in 4 weeks, perfect!  I’m aiming for an average of 1.5lb per week.

We had approx 60g dried fruit and 40g natural nuts as a snack in the afternoon, nice and healthy 😊

I did housework this afternoon, not a deep clean, but a surface clean.

Then we watched an interesting science programme with Alice Roberts. She had been tasked with creating the perfect human, imagining bits where our bodies have shortfalls, how to improve it by looking at the rest if the animal kingdom. It was a fab programme, but I hope we never look like the outcome!

Then we went to get dinner. Here’s the background… ready?

Every Friday night Paul and I would “treat” ourselves to a mixed meat and chips.  Don’t get me wrong, the week would see other take aways too, KFC, pizza hut, chippy, but kebab is Paul’s favourite.

Knowing how much Paul misses kebab, my valentine’s gift to him was kebab, the same type of kebab he’s always bought, from the same take away he had been using since before we met.

I delayed the kebab giving us a chance to fully incorporate ourselves back into our healthy regime, given the abysmal couple of months from mid December. I was going to give the kebab after we had both lost a certain amount of weight, but it didn’t seem right rewarding healthy achievements with very unhealthy food. Hence the month.

So, are you ready to meet our old Friday night meal?

Here’s a Friday night meal now…

And HERE it is, the delish nemesis….  ladies and gentlemen, the Kebab!

OMG what a difference!

I’m going to be honest with you guys, the kebab was amazing! The soggy chippy chips in the bottom were amazing! I left about a quarter of it. And I don’t regret the kebab at all!

However….  it’ll be a very long time before I have it again 😁

Besides, my stomach has started to churn… poetic justice?

So that’s my day.  I’m enjoying a couple of glasses of Merlyn tonight and some tv. And hopefully a good night’s sleep!

Night all

WOOHOO… Weight loss success… another 2lb gone!

Hey folks, hope your weekend is going well.

Pleased to report another 2lb gone this week!

Would have been happy with 1lb, 2lb is fantastic!

Here’s my ticket…

Can’t wait to see how I do next week!

Good luck to you with your targets and challenges.

Byee

13th March – what a great day! The long walk completed in better time!

Hiya all, as I write this I’m nursing a blister and aching legs, hips and heels, and I feel pleased with myself 😇

We both had today off, I didn’t have a lie in though as I needed to do the third urine sample and get it to the surgery.

When I got back Paul was also getting up. I do enjoy having breakfast and a cuppa with Paul, not something we can do during the week.

We had a lovely lunch date with mum and Chelle, going to a pub Paul goes to every Friday for lunch, and has taken me to on occasion. Neither mum nor Chelle had been there, and both enjoyed it.

Afterwards Paul and I went on a good walk. It’s the same walk we did on February 22nd, and we shaved a good ten minutes of our previous time! So pleased! And what’s more… we did Kms 3, 4 and 5 under 11 minutes… that’s the fastest times I’ve ever recorded!

Paul took a sneaky pic of me striding along!

I think there are two reasons for the time improvement, firstly I think with all the walking I’ve been doing, my body is fitter than before. Secondly, in February we had periods of very strong wind, fine when it’s on your back, which was very welcome on the last couple of kilometers, not so welcome when it’s pushing you backwards, as it was for the first few kilometres!

Tomorrow will not be so good for food, Paul… well actually we both love kebab. On valentine’s day I promised Paul a guilt free kebab after a month. I was hoping to have lost a bit more weight by now, but a promise is a promise. So we will order it, eat plenty, and enjoy it!

Right… time for the actual info!

Fluid – two cups of tea, 1 diet Pepsi, 2 pepsi max cans. That’s it, no wonder my mouths so dry. As soon as I’ve written up this post I’ll get a glass of water and a glass of milk.

Food – 2 slices of buttered toast for breakfast.

Wood pigeon and a walldorf salad for lunch, plus both mum and Chelle’s salad, and 1 nicked chip! I’ve taken 2 pics, one of how it turned up because it was such a pretty dish, second with the rogue chip and mums salad.

This is without my sister’s salad.

Tonight we had lightly dusted basa with oven cooked chips and mushrooms gently cooked in spread, garlic puree and dried sage.

We’ll also have 60g dried fruits for a snack later.

Exercise – I’ve got my info and Paul’s, reason for this is my tracker does record my time, but for some reason it doesn’t record all the details, or show details correctly (Paul thinks it’s to do with dropping signal)

So happy with the exercise, this brings my weekly tally to 133 minutes of vigorous activity and 186 minutes of moderate activity.

I am also happy with my food. I know breakfast wasn’t great, I would normally have some healthy beans with it, but it’s wonderful going out to eat and happily picking and enjoying healthier stuff.

I reckon I’ve lost at least 1lb this week, I’m looking forward to weigh in tomorrow 🙂

So, that’s my day, speak soon.

12th March – hmmm, not a brilliant day.

Hiya

As you’ll guess from the title, today has not been one of my finest!

Let’s start from the beginning…

Sleep – was a whole lot better than previous nights.

The tracker is slightly wrong, I was up at 7.20am, however only 4 loo stops… WOOHOO!

I certainly felt better for the drop in loo stops, and I don’t regret not getting up earlier.

This does mean though that my one chance for exercise today was missed.

Work was very odd today, agonisingly slow in the morning and full of problems in the afternoon. Luckily all issues were resolved… just… by the end of the day, so only a couple of bits to hand over to Liz as I’m not in tomorrow.

Speaking of Liz!!!!

Now, I happened to grumble, possibly loudly and longly, that I needed chocolate and I was gonna raid Peter’s bag of celebrations! Liz, wicked lady, brought the bag over to me! Now I believe I would have taken two chocolates only if I’d had to walk over to Peter’s desk, instead I had four!

I guess you could say it is my responsibility to open the gob or not, but I find it more convenient to blame Liz 🤣

I cut out a cup of tea to make up in someway for at least one of the chocs. And was accepting of this, but I then had two more cups of tea, bringing me up to four cups in total.

I’ve also had 1 can of Pepsi max and two glasses of water.

As for actual food, 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion.

I was utterly looking forward to my lunch, it was a quick knock together last night, tuna mixed with lighter than light mayo and sweet chilli. Mixed with brown pasta and sweetcorn.

It was not as enjoyable as I had hoped. It tasted exactly as it should, it just wasn’t salad.

Tonight we visited with our niece, and she cooked chicken and peppers in a maggi bag with brown rice.

It was lovely as ever spending time with Carly 🙂

Now we’re home, and this is where I’m enjoying my fourth cuppa, and, gulp, a small piece of chocolate!

So that’s my day, by no means a perfect day, or even a good day, but it’s not been anywhere near as bad a day as the old me would have had as standard.

Tomorrow is a new day, there should be some good exercise too 🙂

For now I’ll wish you a good night, and I’ll update again tomorrow.

11th March – a decent day.

Hey all.

Today hasn’t been fantastic, but I have made sure it’s been good.

Body is gearing up for meltdown, maybe by next month the injection will be in full swing, and I’ll feel good enough to work through it at full steam. But right now, every step I take feels heavy and laboured, my boobs hurt and feel every jolt. Pleasingly, I’ve still managed to do nearly an hours worth of exercise throughout the day.

After dinner I needed to make an emergency lunch for tomorrow! Brown pasta, frozen sweetcorn added in the last couple of minutes of pasta cook. Small tin of tuna drained mixed with lighter than light mayo and a good splash of sweet chilli. Everything mixed together once cooled.

Right now I’ve got a water bottle on my right shoulder blade and another one on my lower back. I might swap round in a bit so my coccyx gets a bit of heat too.

To the stats!

Sleep – crap… again.

Fluid – 3 cups of tea, 2.5 glasses of water and 1 can of Pepsi max.

Food – it’s Wednesday, my work from home day, so you get daytime food pics!

40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion.

Prawn salad for lunch.

For dinner we had a bbq maggi bag with shallots, garlic, mangetout, sweetcorn and peppers with chicken, and oven cooked spuds. About 10 mins prep, whatever veggies you have spare. Bag instructions – 160 fan, 55 mins.

Nearly 480g, 6 portions.

Thought I’d do step by step pics for the spuds, so quick and easy, and about half hour on 160 fan. However, they’ll cook fine at other temperatures, so don’t worry if you need hotter or cooler oven, adjust cook times and test by stabbing!⁶

Then give a good mix.

Supper is fat free Greek yogurt (not greek style) with seeds and honey.

This is more than a portion, it was guestimated!

Exercise – I did get up early, I did the strength programme.

I walked to and from the doctor’s.

I walked a shortish route to mum’s that included the bridge and some uphill paths. I asked Paul to pick me up.

Today I managed 12 minutes of vigorous activity and 41 minutes of moderate activity. Total for the week so far, 79 minutes of vigorous and 119 minutes of moderate activity.

So that’s my day, hoping I’ll get up early tomorrow as that will be my only exercise chance, equally hoping I’ll sleep soundly and miss the chance!

Have a good evening all, and a great day tomorrow 😃
