3rd March – the food was quite good.

Hiya all, as anticipated this post is a day late… for which I blame our eldest niece 😄

Had to rejig the day somewhat as I was supposed to be popping in to mums. Luckily after speaking to mum on Monday she was happy for me to pop in Wednesday instead of Tuesday, meaning if I got to work from home in the afternoon, I would be home to greet Carly.

I did work from home in the afternoon, and before actually coming home I nipped into doc’s for new sample pots.

Carly stayed for a couple of hours after dinner… always lovely catching up with her without her young siblings demanding her or our attention!

Need to arrange a good catch up with Amy and Katie too.

After Carly left Paul and I needed to have a serious conversation. He and all his work colleagues have been asked to volunteer to drop to four days a week and take a 20% pay cut.

Paul works for an exhibition company, and with all the show cancellations going on now (cheers Covid-19) the company predicts major issues.

To be honest, the company Paul works for is great, the owner of the business is very generous (wonderful family event days), and thinks about families, so much so that when my step dad was taken into hospital, and Paul was in Europe, the company got him home to me quickly.

So, shitty situation, but I feel this is fair under the circumstances, if enough people can volunteer, it will hold off redundancies.

This still might not save the company, a few months will show one way or other, but this will hopefully give the company a chance.

On a personal note, the drop in Paul’s wage is going to be hard, but we’ll get through it. I fully support Paul in this, it’s a way to give back to the company, and providing the company survives, Paul gets to continue working with people and for people he likes.

So, now on to my day.

Sleep – meh

Exercise – no

Fluid – 200ml of milk, 2 glasses of water, 3 cups of tea

Naughties – 3 chocs, 1 slice of bread and butter – and I wonder why I don’t lose weight!

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion, prawn salad.

Dinner – spaghetti bolognese with focaccia and lactose free cheese.

So that’s Tuesday.

2nd March – a good day exercise day, but BOY the hunger!

Hey all, hope your days have been good.

I got up early people! I had a good 5 minute argument with myself… literally.

And in the end I got up and did a quick cardio and a strength programme!

I’m hoping to get up tomorrow morning as well, time will tell.

Had a call from the doctor’s surgery, apparently I have inconclusive pee! So I have to pick up new test pots tomorrow and see the nurse again Wednesday morning. I’ll ask the nurse for a replacement prescription as well.

We also went for a walk this evening, passing by my mums to drop in my sister’s birthday pressie and card.

I’m feeling tired today, can’t stop yawning, so I’ll get on with the daily report.

Sleep – not brilliant but bearable.

Fluid – 200ml of milk, 2 glasses of water, 3 cups of tea.

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion, 1 prawn salad.

Now, as per my title, I felt sooo damn hungry today! I’ve put it down to one of two things, tiredness or beans in salad.

This led to two bad choices.

One bad choice was a celebration chocolate.

The other was a mini bag of maryland cookies! Now believe it or not, I’m counting this as a success, I really wanted carbs! We have lovely bread left over from the weekend, and proper full fat butter. This was what I really had a hankering for. A slice of bread has 127 calories and the butter, well, my guestimate is around 60 calories. So a packet of cookies seemed the best option at 99 calories.

This evening was shopping day, and Paul almost had to frog march me past all the sweet, sugary, salty, carby stuff!

When we got home Paul put the shopping away and I cooked our tuna steak (fancied a bit of a change) with rice and peas and sweetcorn.

And I have just had a square of dark chocolate.

Exercise – I started the day with strength training and a small cardio. I was going to do some walking up and down the office but there was no time. We finished with a walk. 47 minutes of moderate activity and 17 minutes of vigorous activity.

So that’s my day. Got our eldest niece coming over tomorrow for dinner, so will probably be a late post again.

G’night

The catch up!

Hiya all, I hope you are feeling more ready for the upcoming week than I do 😁

So, this is my update from Friday to today.

Friday was the day I was dreading, the smear! I had my diazepam, it did not affect me as the last time I had one, last time I was also on prescription codeine, paracetamol and ibuprofen, so I guess the diazepam on top of that just sent me sky high. This time, I just felt a bit tired and slow in my reactions. However, I had no problem with my test at all! So much so I think I’ll try without the diazepam next time!

Thursday night was an awful night sleep, panicking and stressed about the smear, I didn’t get to sleep till 1am. I expected to be sparko, in fact I was hoping for it, from Friday early evening right through to Saturday morning. Instead I managed a bit of sleep, about an hour, then got up. I spent the evening with that horrible tired feeling with no possibility of sleeping. However, when I went to bed at about 11pm I slept very well 😁

Had a bit of a wobble on Saturday, I neither lost nor gained weight, and i was so looking forward to finally saying i had lost 2 stone (28lb) and finally gotten into the 14 stone bracket. So i had a moody moment and bought an energy drink and creme egg… and ate/drank them!

Oh… self sabotage!

Also angry with myself because I have lost my antibiotics! So I’m going to have to buy another prescription and start the course all over again!

My friend and her boy Luke, came over on Saturday night. We had bragioli for dinner (Paul’s Maltese speciality) a couple of drinks and snacks. It was a lovely evening, we played silly card games. A bit of light relief 😊. Angela decided against sleeping over, and although a bit disappointed, it did mean Paul and I could just relax this morning.

Today we visited with Paul’s sister, which meant not good food, but we limited then went to pizza hut for the healthier flatbread pizzas and salad bowls.

Now I’m home, relaxing, thinking I really need to start getting up in the mornings to exercise. I’m feeling like I will manage this, but then I always do. Tomorrow morning will be the test.

So, friday… 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruits, 1 cheese portion.

Met mum for lunch and had jacket spud with soured cream and salmon fillet, very nice! Wish I had a pic, could have sworn I’d taken one, but no 😒

For dinner we had lightly dusted plaice and oven cooked chips.

Saturday’s food was a sausage sarnie made with healthy option sausages, real butter and nice seedy bread.

Then the angry energy drink and creme egg!

Paul’s bragioli for dinner.

Next time I’ll get a pic before its portioned out.

For snacks I set out dried fruits and nuts, which Angela and Lukey didn’t touch, and a pack of healthier wotsit style crisps. I love these things!

Today started with beans on toast.

Chicken skewers, battered shrimps, chicken wings and a burger.

Then salad bowl and flatbread pizza when we got back into town. I feel guilty not having as much of my sister in laws food, I do like the food, and she isn’t made of money, but I have to think of my health.

Fluid has been ok, mostly pleased that I limited myself to three Welsh liqueurs, and had 1 sugar in a tea at SILs despite normal sugar not being as sweet as my halfspoon.

I hit my exercise targets this week, but only just. We usually do housework during the week, but I did a top to bottom on Saturday, so that gave me a good amount of moderate activity, we also went walking on both days, including doing the dreaded hill twice.

The 7:07 is my first of two up hill times, slower than the last few weeks 😒

I’ve prepped our fruits and nuts for the week, and split my salad (which Paul went out for while I weighed fruits and nuts) into three days. So at least I can run and go in mornings.

Paul likes his fruits and nuts separated and still has a days worth at work, I don’t mind them mixed!
Added in feta cheese, but have run out of five bean salad!

So, a nice weekend on the whole, mostly good choices, some bad, great to catch up with friends and family.

And no… not ready for the week ahead 🤣

Night all, catch up tomorrow.

w/c 24.02 – Exercise Progression Update

Hiya all

I managed… just… to hit my exercise targets!

I’m glad I’ve set these targets, had I not given myself targets to work towards I would not have gone on walks over the weekend. I would have made excuses.

So although this week was not as good as the previous two weeks, I am still doing better than not having a target to work towards.

Also, did the hill twice again!

I’m hoping to bring my strength exercises in as of this week, bringing this in as a target one week early. There, I’ve said it, got to do it now!

So total vigorous activity was 101 minutes, and total moderate activity was 169 minutes.

So that’s my weekly fitness challenge update.

Good luck to you all in your endeavours, you can do it. Remember, if motivation isn’t with you, fall back on determination!

DAMN IT!!!!

Just a quick post before I do housework.

So annoyed!

No weight loss this week.

Upside… could be down to antibiotics, certainly feel bloated and heavy of stomach. At least no weight gain.

So… what did my disciplined self do?

I scoffed the egg, took me about 20 seconds! The drink is taking me longer!

So wanted to get into the 14 stone bracket!

Ah well… draw the line… start again!

27th Feb – a good food day, side effects from antibiotics.

Hey all, hope you are well.

I have been feeling a bit woosey in tummy and head today, one of the side effects of my antibiotics. I’ve also had a slight headache. I’m glad this is only a five day course.

It’s been a long time since I’ve needed antibiotics, and given the antibiotic crisis, I’m hoping it’ll be a long time before I need them again.

I probably won’t be posting tomorrow night, I’ll be very woosey tomorrow, on my three yearly prescription of diazepam. I’m expecting an amazingly great sleep from early evening onwards!

Today has been a decent day with regards to food.

My usual daytime food, 40g nuts, 60g dried fruits, 1 cheese portion, 1 prawn salad. I chocolate.

Paul cooked a nice spaghetti bolognese, using a bit of oil and 5% fat mince. We also had a small amount of lactose free milk.

Fluid – 200ml of milk, approx 1l of water, and 1.5 cups of tea.

Exercise – I really don’t think I can risk being too far from the loo!

Sleep – URGH! Not sure if tiredness is down to tablets or lack of sleep, but tired I have been, and remain.

Anyhow, wish me luck tomorrow, the dreaded but necessary smear test looms large. I wish I could be like I used to be with these tests, not particularly bothered, maybe in time I’ll get back to that state.

Night

26th Feb – a good healthy day. An expensive medication day!

Hey all, hope you are well.

Hump day done! YES!

I am pleased to report, apart from 3 extra Brazil nuts, my day has been good for food and exercise.

I blame my daughter for the additional nuts, I was working from home today and she popped in just as I started on my nuts and fruits. Obviously I asked her if she’d eaten, at which point she gave me puppy dog eyes! So she had one of my prepared tubs as well, but she doesn’t like Brazil nuts.

In other news… it’s been an odd day. I started by taking my urine samples to the nurse, 2 pots, 1 to send off the other for a dip test. I have an infection.

I mentioned I needed to book a smear test, and that I was thinking of April, as I need to book a day off (I’m a wimp and need a diazepam), however she very sweetly and kindly bullied me into an appointment this Friday!

GULP!

Paul has managed to get the day of despite the short notice. He’ll need to drive me and get me to nurse, then home again and into bed.

He is a true sweety, I don’t know how I would cope without him sometimes.

Our walk this evening was centred around going to the pharmacy.

And that ladies and gents, is where £27 flew out of my bank account!

Antibiotics (infection), contraceptive injection (cos apparently I’m too bloody old for the implant! I’ve told Paul he should pay for this, he just grinned 😆) and 1 tiny little diazepam!

Ah well, tis what it is!

Work was again a very unsatisfactory day.

So, to the day!

Sleep – not a bad night’s sleep.

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion.

For lunch I had prawn salad.

For dinner we had chicken in a maggi bag with mushrooms, sprouts, beans, onion and garlic, with oven cooked spuds.

The antibiotics need to be taken with food, so despite not being hungry, we’ve got a bowl of strawberries and fat free natural Greek yoghurt. I know it looks like cream, I promise you it isn’t!

Fluid – 200ml of milk, 4 cups of tea, 1 can Pepsi max, 1 glass of water. And I’ll have to up my water now, try to flush the kidneys!

Exercise – a decent walk, longer than expected, just over 4km. It wasn’t a hard walk, but it felt like a decent walk.

So that’s it from me.

Night 🤗

25th Feb – not quite a decent food day.

Hey all, it’s been one of those unsatisfying work days. Busy and yet I feel I’ve got nothing done!

What’s worse is that I’ve had 3 chocolates. It was mindless! They were there, my hand dipped into the bag!

Anyway, enough of my bitching, things could be worse.

So on to my day.

Sleep – a good night – WAYHAY!

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion, 3 chocolates and prawnless salad! Prawnless because the lady who made our salads at the weekend has smaller hands, so there were only 7 prawns, I separated them into 2 of the salads, not across all 3.

Dinner was salmon and rice with sweetcorn and peas.

Fluid – 200ml of milk, 4 teas, 1 chai latte.

Exercise – none yet, not sure if there will be any tonight. I did plan to walk, but boy it’s so cold!

So that’s me, hope your days have been better.

TTFN

24th Feb – sneaky pancakes! Sneaky choc!

Evening all, hope you are well and that Monday hasn’t been to traumatic a day 😁

I think I heard Paul’s alarm go off at 6 this morning, but I certainly didn’t get up.

This evening was girls night with my mum and sister. It was lovely catching up 🙂 my sister’s husband (such a sweety 💖) has bought a weekend in Venice for my sister’s upcoming birthday, so we’re crossing fingers and toes this virus won’t put a stop to their break.

Anyway, on to the day!

Sleep – I felt as though I had a good night’s sleep last night! Only 1 loo stop!

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion, prawn salad for lunch. And 1 little chocolate… you know those chocs I resisted last week, not so good today, 1 found it’s way into my mouth!

Mum cooked a gammon joint, sprouts and boiled spuds, not as much as usual, although more than enough, because she had a treat in store! I did take a pic, but it’s disappeared.

PANCAKES!

Now, people, there is only one way to eat pancakes!

Lemon juice and sugar!

And no one will ever convince me there is a better way!

So, we had two rolled pancakes each with lemon juice and (for me) 1.5 teaspoons of sugar… on each!

YUM!

Thankfully I managed to squeeze ‘a bit’ of exercise in! More on that in a mo.

Fluid – 200ml milk, 4 cups of tea, 2 cans Pepsi max.

Exercise – so, I came home to finish my working day, and as going round to mum’s, I knew I would get a little walk in. But then I thought, actually it doesn’t need to be a small walk, no, I could aim to be at mum’s at 7ish, so I could actually get a 45 minute minimum walk in! Didn’t even have to think about it, just realised I had the time, and why not!

So I walked hard, even going uphill just presented me with the challenge to keep the pace up!

I even took the ‘wrong’ turn Paul and I ended up taking last week, just to keep the walk going,

And, further more, I crossed the road at the zebra crossing, just so further down the road I would have to walk back over the road by going over the bridge!

So pleased with my exercise mindset today!

I do have a question which I’m hoping someone can answer. When you see the following pic you’ll see my tracker (and I believe it) shows me working at maximum heart rate. Does anyone know if this is dangerous?

So if anyone does know the answer, please do comment.

In the meantime, I’m counting this as one of my two 45 minute walks, with 50 minutes of vigorous activity and 7 minutes of moderate activity.

So there we have it, my rather pleasing day!

Night 😊
