15th Feb – oooops!

Hey all,

So this weekend we have our nephew, Kian.

Paul picked him up after our walk and weigh in, giving me a couple of hours to spend with Angela and Luke.

Speaking of Luke… he’s shown me a recipe he likes the look of, and I’m so impressed! Poached then oven baked salmon with tonnes of veggies! There’s a huge list of ingredients, and yet he still wants to try it! So I’ve told him that when he and his mum come to stop at ours in a couple of weeks, he can make it, and I’ll assist him!

He’s a sweety, at that age where he likes to lose himself in the internet world, not really into “doing” things like arts and crafts or cooking.

Now, on to Kian – So he has been happy to play on his switch and his remote control toy, but also chatting with us.

And we treated him to pizza hut last night. We watched one and a half films, and had conversations about space, how big it is and whether there might be aliens, and about scary things.

He didn’t feel like going to bed at about 10.30pm when we suggested it, yet 15 minutes later he realised on his own that he needed bed… thankfully! Because we were definitely ready for bed!

He is awake now, but not yet emerged from the bedroom 😄. I have no doubt there will be the normal bathroom fight, you know the one, the fight where he believes a wash is running the tap and not letting a drop touch his face, and my belief which involves face, neck, ears, soap, water and flannel! Wish me luck!

Now, onto the facts and confessions for yesterday.

Food – sausage roll for breakfast. We had healthier sausages but didn’t realise they were out of date, so we had frozen veggie hotdog sausages in rolls bought on Monday, I very underwhelming breakfast!

Dinner – pizza. 2 big pizzas between 5 of us (amy and Katie joined us) I had three slices. Oops! There was also a couple of chicken wings, a slice of garlic bread and cheese triangles. Not good. I did however have Pepsi max, a small positive but a positive nonetheless.

Fluid – about 4 teas, two of which round my friends, and a fair few glasses of Pepsi max.

Exercise – yes, up the hill then a small walk.

The 6ish minute workout is the time from bottom to top of hill. Slower than last week, but wetter and windier!

Moderate activity was 16 minutes, vigorous activity was 12 minutes.

So that’s yesterday, I’ll update again tonight 🙂

Weekly weigh… SUCCESS- 1lb

Hiya,

So with all my exercising and good eating, upto last night, I’m pleased to report I have a 1lb loss. This is not a lot I know, but given last night’s slightly worse choices with food, and the rather enjoyable alcohol, I’m happy with this loss.

I love that my height fluctuates by 0.5 of an inch 😀

I know I would have lost a bit more had I been on the path fully, but i’ll take take it! Hey, another 3lbs and I’ll be what I was before Xmas!

I’m looking forward to next week, I feel I’m doing really will with my fitness goals, I still need to try the new recipes out. I should be coming on… well last week actually… so this week I guess, but I feel confident right now that I’ll still do ok.

Time will tell of course, but we’ll see 🙂

Good luck to you all on your journeys.

14th Feb… Belated!

Hey all, hope you are well.

This post is a little late! When you’ve read the post, you’ll see I was in no fit state to write last night 😀

I worked a half day yesterday, and had plans to catch up with your posts, write up my post, and generally laze around before getting ready for the night out.

I did some of that!

Paul and I were good and did not buy each other chocolates, however Paul did book a table at a lovely restaurant for us. As it’s mediteranean I was expecting to be able to choose plenty of healthy stuff, however their menu was more limited than expected, less choice means chefs can concentrate on keeping the quality of the food excellent, so I understand and appreciate the decision.

It was a lovely night, and for the first time in a long time I went out dressed up rather than in jeans. I felt very feminine! a feeling I realise now I miss. And Paul looked GORG!!!!!

I don’t think it’s the food that let me down last night, it was the alcohol, at home, in the restaurant and in the pub afterwards! I’m not going to give you a tally, it was a lot and very nice too, however it did screw up my weight loss on the scales today!

So, on to the daily info!

Food – 40g of natural nuts, 60g of dried fruits, 1 cheese portion. Chicken salad for lunch with Mum and Katie.

Healthy so far, right? That was the aim, I was gonna be good even last night, but well.

So then onto the evening…

Pate to start
This looked a lot prettier when it came out, I moved the chicken so you could see the veggies
ok, least said the better! CHOCOLATE AFTER ALL!

Fluid – 200ml milk, 4 cups of tea, 1 diet pepsi – daytime. WAY too much Baileys, Disaranno and Tia Marie last night!

No exercise last night.

So that’s my day yesterday, i’ll post separate for today and the weekly weigh in results.

See ya for now.

13th Feb – walk done… just!

Hiya,

I did need to go to the loo before the walk, which I always think is good. Not gonna get caught out whilst walking.

We decided not to do as long a walk, aiming for a good 45 minutes, and thank God we did! About 10 minutes away from home, and 13 minutes off the 45 minute target, I realised I had to go!

So we hot tailed it home, I nipped to the loo, then popped my shoes back on as I was determined to make the 45 minutes, and took a quick spin round a couple of courts!

Here’s my activity print out.

Guess what…

Vigorous activity target… EXCEEDED

Walk target… MET

Still got a few minutes to do for moderate, and I need to deal with The Bitch (nasty hill), but I still have half a week to go! WOOHOO!!

Now I’m going to relax with Tom Kerridge, for those who don’t know, he’s a British chef who used to be really overweight.  He lost a load of weight, and then did a tv show. This is his second series and again it’s great. And he seems like a totally lovely bloke! I’ve just watched him make healthier pancakes, which I’m gonna try!

Paul’s just asked if I want yoghurt, I do but with all the crap I’ve eaten (see previous post) I’ve told Paul to just make some for himself. He did bring me in a cheese portion, he knows I worry I don’t get enough calcium 🥰

So I’m off now!

TTFN

13th Feb – Well, that was a mixed bag of a day!

Evening all,

So, there’s a few confessions. First one from last night. We went to watch Ed Byrne, as fabulously funny as I was hoping for!

However we bought, and ate an entire bag of peanut m&ms between us. And the theatre had no oasis to drink, so I had a j2o, tasty, but my word you can feel the sugar going down!

Then there was today.

Work…. AAAARGH!!!! Let’s not talk about that! Luckily half day tomorrow, so I’ll be working from home in the morning, then I’m free!

And so much for food prep! This week has been so up in the air with visitors, going out and trying to see our nephew as well, I didn’t have a salad to take to work today.

Ok, let’s break the day down bit by bit.

Firstly – I got up again and did exercising! Cardio today, I couldn’t find the one I did the other morning, so I did another one from the same youtuber, not quite as energetic but I still felt it was a good workout. I don’t know where the old me has gone to! I don’t do mornings! and yet here’s me getting up and doing! There is a bit of me that hopes I can continue.

Bodies gearing up for the monthly meltdown, which will explain why I’m a bit grumpy, as Paul can testify, not reminding me he’s not coming straight home tonight, so there’s me worrying! Frustratingly, whenever I have a go at him, he just stands there trying not to laugh… I mean! This also explains why I’m being ridiculously undisciplined with food choices.

So here comes confession number two, three and four! one chocolate biscuit, one bag of ready salted crisps, another chocolate biscuit!

HUMPFFFF

Now for some good news, I made as healthy a choice as possible from the lunch van, not brilliant, but better and more filling than a flapjack from the charity box and better than the rest of the choices the van offered.

I ran out of sugar at work, so despite really, really wanting a third cup of tea, which would have been made with normal sugar, I switched to water.

And I’m considering a walk, just waiting for dinner to go down and providing there’s no tummy rumbles (I’ve had a slightly dodgy tummy these last couple of days) then I’ll be wrapping up warm for a good walk.

So here’s the daily deal!

Sleep – not a bad sleep at all!

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruits, 1 cheese portion, 1 pack of crisps, 2 chocolate biscuits.

Lunch was a tuna mayo and sweetcorn slightly seedy roll.

Dinner was pork and venison burger with mozzarella cheese (I thought the cheese was the healthier version but wasn’t) with a bit of sweet chutney in a brown roll, with oven cooked spuds with small sweet onions, smoked garlic, mushrooms, olive oil, garlic puree and dried rosemary.

Fluid – 200ml lactose free milk, 3 cups of tea, 2 glasses of water. And currently supping a can of Pepsi Max Cherry… and I don’t care!

Exercise –

I feel pleased with the exercising, I’m now up to a total of 129/150 minutes of moderate activity, 69/75 minutes of vigorous activity, 1/2 walks completed – second probably being done shortly.

So that’s my mixed bag of the day!

Good discipline in some areas, crap discipline in others. GRRRRRR! I can’t even say I’ll do better tomorrow. Daytime will be fine, evening… Depends where Paul’s taking me, I mean, if it was Pizza Hut I can get a flatbread pizza for 500ish cals, but then Paul would no longer have a partner if he truly believed Pizza Hut is the place for valentines evening! Luckily, I managed to find out where he’s booked for us, and I can’t wait to take photos for you, I’ve only been there twice, and it’s lovely 🙂

Like I say for a non-romantic, he really is sweet… Apart from when he doesn’t remind me he’s coming home later than usual!

Hopefully I’ll have a walk update for you soon…

Bye for now!

12th Feb – another good day, and shoes way more comfy than expected!

Hey all,

I’ve spent today in a pair of my beautiful new Joe Brown shoes… and they’re a lot more comfortable than expected!

I should be fine going out in them on Friday night… there will be no dancing, there will be a bit of walking and sitting 😆

Paul should have done some exercising this morning but was very achy, I did however get up to do a strength training programme… again, I wanted to stay in bed, I have no idea where this discipline is coming from, but YES!

I thought I had a dentist appointment today, I was wrong, that’s next week!

So actually I could have used my lunch break to do exercises and spent a bit longer in bed. Instead I invited my friend round for a cuppa and catch up.

I shan’t be doing exercises this evening as Paul and I are going to watch Ed Byrne. I think he’s my favourite stand up live. I’m just hoping I don’t get a call from an Engineer mid performance… it’s possible I’ve had to leave a message for a call back.

Anyway, on to my daily stuff…

Sleep – yeah, not too bad. I have been yawning all day, but I don’t feel too bad.

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion and prawn salad for lunch. And being Wednesday and a work from home day, I’ve remembered my picture!

Tonight we had a nice piece of salmon and rice with sweetcorn and peas.

Exercise – strength training this morning.

Not much in the way of vigorous exercise, which is good as I don’t want it to be cardio based. A nice few minutes to be added to the weekly moderate activity tally though.

I’m still amazed these watches can track all this info!

Fluid – I’ve had my 200ml of milk, 1 can of Pepsi max and 4 cups of tea.

So that’s my day. Gonna sign off now as we need to make a move!

Byeee 🤗

11th Feb – first walk of the week done!

Hey all

Walk now done and finishing off a can of Pepsi max opened at dinner!

Somehow, despite living around her all my 45 years, I missed a turn, so the walk was a little longer than anticipated 😆

Anyway, that’s 1 of 2 walks done for the week, and another 37 minutes of moderate activity and 22 minutes of vigorous activity!

Gonna leave you in peace now and watch a bit of comedy.

Night

11th Feb – a good food day, I’m counting housework as exercise!

Hey all, 40% of the week now over, hump day tomorrow!

Today was a little calmer today, thankfully.

And with our eldest niece Carly and Katie coming round for dinner tonight I was pleased to work from home on the latter part of the day, and with the drop of work this afternoon, I could get some housework done.

Carly is not a veggie lover, so everytime she comes round theres a veggie she’s forced to try 😆

There was one slice of bakewell tart left, which Carly enjoyed.  I’m so pleased, it’s definitely a make again recipe.

Now Carly and Paul are discussing football, Katie’s looking at her phone, so I’m taking the opportunity to write today’s post.

So, on to the daily dose!

Sleep – it was quite good.  Only a couple of pitstops.

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruit, 1 cheese portion.

I was fine again without the hard boiled egg.

Prawn salad with no dressings.

Dinner was chicken in a maggi bag with peppers and onions, oven cooked spuds, carrots, sugar snaps and corn.

Here’s awkward girls! Oh, and Paul.

Exercise – so not expecting to have an empty house quite so soon tonight, I recorded the housework moments

That gives me a total of 64 minutes of moderate activity, and 1 whole minute of vigorous activity today.

However, Carly had to leave earlier than usual and Katie has also gone home as Amy is almost home from work, so Paul has asked if I would like to go for a walk.

And actually, I think I do! Especially as we’re going out tomorrow night and Friday night!

Speaking of going out, I’m really looking forward to Friday, for someone who professes to be a non romantic soul, Paul really does do some lovely things for me 😊. I have no idea where we’re going, I’ve asked if it will affect my diet, and been told it doesn’t have to… so YES then 😆, I’ve had to push for what kind of clothing to wear and Paul’s advised nice, so no jeans and t shirt!

Anyway, I’m gonna sign off for now, but I’ll pop a quick walk update on shortly.

10th Feb – YES! A great day!

Evening all, hope the beginning of the week hasn’t been too exhausting!

My gums are almost pain free – YIPPEE. also got the results back from my blood tests, not entirely sure what I was being tested for, vitamin d deficiency, cholesterol and chemistry (whatever that means) and they’re fine.

Paul got up early to go for a run, so I nipped to the loo (again!) And snuggled back into bed, and then thought ‘I s’pose I could get up and do a workout’ I wasn’t overly keen on the idea, the bed was warm! But up I got!

I did a brand new cardio workout today and I will definitely be doing it again!

So that was the the start of my day.

Work! Oh dear! Without warning it looks like we’ve got a big and immediate project, so I have worked my backside of today, and this will probably continue for a couple of weeks.

Once I got some details in I was fine, now I know what to expect and the impacts.

Me, mum and chelle have rearranged our girls night for alternate Mondays now so I went straight round to mum’s after work.

Mum needed a bit of wall painting done, so I did that. It was only a couple of small areas so didn’t take long, I’ll stick another coat on next time I’m at mum’s.

Mum cooked a lovely dinner, and after organising a few things (medieval night, afternoon tea and mums birthday meal out) I came home. So got home about 10 minutes ago, another 45 mins and I’ll be thinking about bed.

So, here’s my daily run down.

Sleep – not a huge amount. But not feeling too bad considering.

Food – 40g natural nuts, 60g dried fruits, 1 cheese portion. 1 small chocolate.

I’m going the week without my hard boiled egg, I didn’t miss it today.

For lunch I had prawn salad with added feta style cheese and beans.

Dinner was bangers and mash with carrots, sprouts and gravy! Ah lovely 😋

Fluid – 1 glass of water, 6 cups of tea (oh dear… not good) and I’ll have some milk shortly.

Exercise – YES feeling like I’m getting back into it!

I thought the workout had finished so stopped my tracker, so had to restart it. I wouldn’t have bothered if I’d realised it was only another couple of mins, but hey ho, I’ll take it as I recorded it.

So, that’s my day. Looking forward to another great day tomorrow. And wishing you all a great day too.

Ah, Paul’s just brought in Greek yoghurt with seeds and honey!

Night.
